The next important event for our society is the annual Spring meeting which will be held on the 22nd of February 2019 at the UCL campus in Woluwe-Saint-Lambert. As a tradition the Emmanuel van der Schueren lecture is on the programme. Prof. dr. H. Langendijk will be awarded with the EvdS medal.
Proton therapy being the main topic of this meeting, the Belgian proton therapy centers will give a presentation on their projects in development.
Since 2015 we implemented a session dedicated to the presentation of ongoing or upcoming research projects by doctoral students. It was very much appreciated by the audience and therefore we will continue this initiative during the following Spring meetings.
The Spring meeting will end with the annual General Assembly. During that part of the meeting, the elections for partial renewal of the board will be held.
We hope to see most of you during this major event for our community.
this meeting applies for the permanent education required by AFCN/FANC
Prof. dr. H. Langendijk will give a presentation on “Introduction of proton therapy according to the model-based approach”. He will be awarded with the EvdS medal.
As a tradition, doctoral students are invited to present their work during a 10 minutes presentation. It is an opportunity to better know what is going around, to share ideas and to face new challenges together.
On top of that, members who have not yet presented their work during a previous edition of the Spring meeting can compete for the PhD award for the best presentation.
Only members of our society can submit an abstract and give a presentation during this meeting.
The General Assembly of the BeSTRO and the BARO is the last part of the Spring meeting which is restricted to members only.
During this General Assembly, half of the board has to be elected: vice-president, treasurer, counsellor and representative of the junior members.
We think it is important to introduce fresh blood with new ideas into our board and therefore we encourage our members to consider a nomination for one of these positions.
